State’s newest winery debuting May 1

MACEDON, NY — Long Acre Farms has been known for quite a few things.

The Amazing Maize Maze, for one, a 13-year-old agri-tourist attraction. The Sweet Corn Fest, for another. Pumpkin Harvest Weekends, Civil War reenactments, medieval war practices for a bunch more.

Now, however, the Wayne County operation is gearing up to debut the state’s newest winery — JD Wine Cellars — which will be unveiled on Saturday, May 1, which is opening day for the entire farm complex.

JD Wine Cellars, co-owned by Joan Lawrence Allen and husband Doug Allen, will be offering red, white and fruit wines made from 100% whole fruit purchased from growers in the region. Tastings are $3, but on opening day free commemorative tasting glasses will be given to every taster while the supply lasts.
