HVCC stadium to host craft beer festival

19 May

TROY, NY — Baseball and beer are an American tradition, so it seems only fitting that the Capital Region Craft Brewer’s Festival on July 24 will be held at the Joseph L. Bruno Stadium in Troy.

It is being billed as the first major New York State Brewer’s Association-sanctioned event in the Capital Region. The co-sponsors of the event are Brown’s Brewing Company of Troy and the Tri-City ValleyCats minor league baseball team that plays at the stadium, located at Hudson Valley Community College.

In addition to samples of beer from a variety of Northeast craft brewers (the organizers have not yet released a list of participating breweries), food, live music and a home brewing demonstration are being planned.

Ticket prices range from $10 for designated drivers to $40 for the deluxe package. Details are available online. This is a fundraising event to benefit the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation, which helps provide safe and well-maintained baseball fields for children throughout the area.

The foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Class A Baseball Short Season New York-Penn League. The foundation’s mission is to provide charitable support for local community efforts to the 14 member clubs of the New York-Penn League.

The New York State Craft Brewers Association is a not-for-profit organization that works to promote the awareness and interests of breweries, microbreweries and brewpubs in the state.
