Albany’s Lark Street spots will be livelier later

09 Jul

ALBANY, NY — Lark Street, the capital city’s “shabby chic” downtown neighborhood lineup of bars and restaurants, will be able to stay livelier a little later.

The Albany Common Council on Thursday night approved a temporary measure that moves the closing time for bars’ and restaurants’ sidewalk patios from 11 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. The only caveat is that the establishments have to be within the Lark Street Business Improvement District (BID) . Rear patios must close at 11 p.m. every night.

The change will stay in effect through next April, at which time it will be re-examined by the council. (Elda’s On Lark is shown above right.)
