Columbia Co. winery plans 3rd Sangria Festival

29 Jul

GHENT, NY — The 3rd annual Sangria Festival at the Hudson-Chatham Winery will feature some interesting wine concoctions as well as food from the famed Mexican Radio restaurant in nearby Hudson.

The event is planned for noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, at the winery, located at 1900 Route 66 in the Columbia County community of Ghent, about midway between its two namesake towns.

There will be multiple sangrias to sample, live Flamenco guitar music with Maria Zemantauski and Jose Miralles, carne asadas and other foods. There is no admission charge. Everything there is a la carte: i.e., $5 for a five-sangria tasting flight; individual prices for the Mexican Radio food; music is free.

The winery, which also offers a wide range of artisanal New York cheeses in its tasting room, is owned by Carlo and Dominique DeVito. It is now in its third summer of operation.
