The monthly (every first Saturday) event aimed at drawing visitors to the downtown area of this small lakeside city, has been emphasizing food a lot more this year than in the inaugural series.
“We wanted to expand the success of Canandaigua Wine Walk. It was natural to bring in food tastings from local restaurants to add to the mix,” says Don Stevens. He is the co-founder of Wine Walk and president of the Downtown Canandaigua Merchant Association.
Each Wine Walk event has been bringing an average of 300 people for the 4 to 7 p.m. event. Participants may purchase for $5 a souvenir wine glass at any merchants participating for that month. The fee covers all the wine and food tastings.
The next Wine Walk is scheduled for September 4, with seven six Finger Lakes wineries and three food stops. You can get the names of participants online each month.
