HANGOUTS: An Albany icon getting a facelift

24 Aug

Send us your announcements and pictures if you’ve got a new or re-worked place for drinks and gatherings anywhere in New York State.

4 Clinton Square at North Pearl Street
Albany, NY

This popular pub, located downtown opposite the very busy Palace Theatre, has closed. Don’t fret, It’s just for a little cleanup and reno work. (You like how I did that? Just like a schlocky local TV bit.) The re-opening is scheduled for Wednesday, September 1, when a couple of local institutions will be unveiled as a team. Tess Collins, owner of the iconic Tess’ Lark Tavern that was burned out a few months ago, has been named manager of McGeary’s and is bringing a number of her Lark staffers with her. Considering McGeary’s 27-year-run as an Irish-style pub, it will be interesting to see what it turns into.
