Schenectady burrito bar adds a tiki touch

23 Sep

SCHENECTADY, NY — The tiki bar craze I’ve been writing about (see here and here, for example) has struck the Capital Region — with a twist.

The Bombers Burrito Bar located at 447 State Street opposite the Proctors Theatre complex (the original is in Albany) on Sunday debuted La Playa, its new third-floor event space and lounge. While the name is Spanish for “the beach,” its main feature is a tiki bar (shown at right) that springs from a South Pacific style.

The new venue will be open as a lounge Friday nights from 9 p.m. with a $10 cover charge, and Sunday afternoons and Monday nights for pro football big-screen viewing and a $15 all-you-care-to-eat wings buffet. It also is available for private events.

Check out my New York Drinks Events Calendar, the most comprehensive you’ll find anywhere.
