1st Finger Lakes Cork & Fork on schedule

25 Sep

SENECA FALLS, NY — Organizers of the inaugural Finger Lakes Cork & Fork event, scheduled for mid-October, are looking for yet another strong venue to show off
New York wines and foods. In essence, a giant farmers’ market.

However, not only is the event targeted toward gastro-tourists, it also is aimed at matching up restaurants and producers who at the present have no connections to each other.

The event will be held at Rodman Lott & Son Farms, overlooking Caygua Lake. For each nonperishable food item attendees donate, they will be entered to win the “Epicurean Experience Giveaway,” a package of prizes.

The opener of the October 22-23 event is a Friday night “Partners & Pairings” VIP event for a limited audience of 200 people. A portion of the proceeds will go to local food banks. The event will feature 12 chefs paired with 12 wineries to serve tapas and tastings. Live music and a talk by Michael Welch of Edible Finger Lakes magazine will be included. Admission to the event also will cover admission to the Saturday events.

The Saturday schedule runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with 60 exhibitors covering wineries, farms, food producers, restaurants and chefs. Five “Preparing & Pairing” team cooking demonstrations are planned. All dishes will use local ingredients in their preparation.

A complimentary food and wine valet will be available to assist you with your purchases. The first 1,800 people will receive a complimentary “bling bag” containing a glass, fork, plate and napkin along with other items from the area.

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Details are available online.
