St. Giles Hotel
120-130 East 39th St. at Lexington
New York, NY 1001
We here at “Drinking New York” do love our hotel bars. Cozy as a neighborhood watering hole can be, we can’t shake the 1930s mindset when even the lowliest dive hostelry offered a special place to consume a cocktail or a brew. LexBar offers lots of glitz — mirrored cocktail tables, silvery curtains, candles everywhere — to help set the mood. The location — in the Murray Hill neighborhood near Grand Central Station — doesn’t hurt. The menu includes small plates as well as such signature drinks as the Rose Angel (reposado tequila, elderflower syrup and Sprite, for $16).
