• Hauté new chef for Albany wine bar

06 Oct

ALBANY, NY — A much-praised chef will be taking over the kitchen at The Wine Bar and Bistro on Lark Street next month.

Jason Baker (right), whose innovative cuisine first came to notice in the greater Capital Region at his now-closed J.T. Baker’s New Cuisine in Greenwich, presently is chef-owner of The Black Watch steakhouse in Glens Falls. In his “Table Hopping” blog today, the Times Union’s Steve Barnes reported that “Baker tells me that The Black Watch, which debuted in May, has come together so smoothly that his culinary team — Nicholas Yusavage, Mark Lawrence and Nick Cook — runs well without him. He will remain the official executive chef, responsible for menu development, ordering and management, but will spend five days a week as head chef at The Wine Bar. ‘ … It was always part of my business plans to go off and seek other ventures. This is a way to expand my (brand)’.”
