• All-keg wine company debuts

02 Feb

Here’s the latest news about keggers: There’s wine in them thar containers.

Gotham Project, a collaboration between winemaker Charles Bieler, best known for Three Thieves, and Bruce Schneider of Schneider Vineyards on Long Island is the state’s first all-keg wine company. Its initial release, a Finger Lakes Riesling, has been set up on tap at such Big Apple spots as Terroir Tribeca, the John Dory Oyster Bar, Blue Ribbon Brooklyn and red rooster. The partners plan to release two more wines in the next few months — The Fork, a Merlot-based blend from the North Fork, and a 2010 Sauvignon Blanc from Chile.

They note that the 20-liter containers prevent oxidation, keeping the wine fresh for several months.
