NEW YORK — The curiosity factor has been driving foodies to Del Posto, the Italian restaurant created by Joe and mom Lidia Bastianich and Mario Batali and opened to great fanfare in 2005. However, its layering of ambiance, decor and cuisine is difficult to fully experience in just one spur-of-the-moment sitting.
Next Wednesday, February 23, that can be addressed when the Del Posto Wine Dinner Series begins. It will start with a cocktail reception from 7 to 7:30 p.m. with passed hors d’oeuvres and Prosecco, followed by a five-course meal prepared by Executive Chef Mark Ladner, paired with wines from the Piemontese wine producer Oddero. The Oddero Estate and Winery (Poderi e Cantine Oddero) is one of the oldest producers of Barolo. Nine different wines from Oddero will be served and Isabella Oddero and Mariacristina Oddero, daughter of Barolo patriarch Giacomo Oddero, will host the dinner.
