• Glens Falls brewpub set for spruce-up

03 Apr

GLENS FALLS, NY — A few weeks ago I had dinner at the Davidson Brothers Restaurant and Brewery. My mini-review:

  • Food and drinks: Very good.
  • Service: Very good.
  • Ambiance: Very … much in need of work. Even if you accept the description of “rustic,” it could stand some TLC.

That might be remedied if renovation plans are positively received at Tuesday’s City Planning Board meeting.

Co-owner Rick Davidson says the project is ready to begin, with a $450,000 budget, once approvals are received for the exterior and interior spruce-up of the 15-year-old business. The plans call for replacing the wood facade on the front and side of the building with brick, repairing and painting existing brickwork, new windows and signage. Inside, new heating/air-conditioning and basement prep kitchen.

Davidson Brothers is known for a variety of craft beers, but the most popular remains its traditional IPA (5.9% abv), on tap since the day the brewpub opened.

The establishment is located downtown at 184 Glen Street, about a block from the Glens Falls Civic Center. Phone: (518) 743-9026.
