TEMECULA, CA — In a battle right to the end, one Finger Lakes entry edged out another for “Best White Wine” honors among 1,000 entries in the Riverside International Wine Competition this week.

Hazlitt 1852 Vineyards’ 2009 Finger Lakes Dry Gewurztraminer took the award, squeaking past Heron Hill’s 2008 Dry Riesling.

New York wines earned 137 medals overall, including nine Chairman’s Awards (unanimous gold), 37 gold, 56 silver, and 34 bronze awards.
