MILLBROOK, NY — Wine trains are all the rage in some states. Not so much in New York. However, Millbrook Winery plans to inaugurate a service this weekend called the Vineyard Express.

The Dutchess County facility will provide round-trip van transportation between the Amtrak/Metro North hub station in Poughkeepsie, several stops south of Rensselaer/Albany, and the winery. Riders will have lunch with wine, then a wine tasting and will be given a gift bag.The cost is $75 per person. Reservations are required, by calling (845) 677-8383, ext. 11, or by going online. Amtrak tickets also are available online.

Current varietals grown at Millbrook, located at 26 Wing Road, are Chardonnay (13 acres) Pinot Noir (5 acres), Cabernet Franc (7 acres), and Tocai Friulano (5 acres). Winemaker John Graziano has been in charge of the operation since Millbrook was founded in 1984.
