• Cocktail of the Week: Gentleman Jack & Berries

30 Jul

This is the latest entry in an exclusive every-Saturday feature. I’ll be combing through all sorts of sources — my own archives, old bar books, readers’ suggestions, distillers’ ideas — even press releases from breathless PR people seeking to get their clients’ products mentioned. If you have a favorite recipe to share, don’t hesitate to send it along.

Jack Daniel’s upmarket expression, Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey, is more nuanced whiskey than its popular parent. That allows it to shine in cocktail recipes.

Here is one that is particularly suited to the season, using both a fruit liqueur and fresh berries.

Ingredients:

1½ ounces Gentleman Jack Rare Tennessee Whiskey
½ ounce Chambord
1½ ounces
Fresh red raspberries

Put first three ingredients in a cocktail shaker and shake with fresh ice. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with 2 or 3 raspberries and serve.
