• This is the latest entry in an every-Saturday feature. I’ll be combing through all sorts of sources — my own archives, old bar books, readers’ suggestions, distillers’ ideas — even press releases from breathless PR people seeking to get their clients’ products mentioned. If you have a favorite recipe to share, don’t hesitate to send it along.
One of the newer tequilas to appear in the ever-expanding niche comes from Familia Camarena, one of the older families involved in the industry.
This recipe offers a very nice addition to any “tini” menu, utilizing fragrant, sweet and tart flavors.
1½ ounces Camarena Reposado Tequila
2 ounces apple cider
½ ounce Cointreau
½ ounhce fresh lime juice
3 dashes fresh ginger juice
Thinly-sliced apples for garnish
Combine the first five ingredients in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and give a generous shake. Double strain into a martini glass. Garnish with a fan of apple slices and serve.
