• Oktoberfest planned on the Hudson River

08 Sep

NEW YORK — Oktoberfest events usually are held on dry land. True, dry land that gets a bit soggy with beer, but land nonetheless. However, the folks at World Yacht are planning their 2nd annual Oktoberfest On the Hudson, set for Saturday, September 24.

Pier 81 at West 41st Street on the river will become a beer garden for the event, with live polka music, seasonal foods and a variety of beers. There also will be an optional one-hour beer cruise.

The beers will be from Paulaner, and the German food will include sausages, classic and chicken bratwursts, hot dogs, hamburgers, pommes frites, Bavarian pretzels and other tidbits.

Both a polka band and a professional German dance troupe will entertain.

The event will be held rain or shine. Tickets are available online.
